Show Your Creativity with Kitchen Accessories
Posted by: Dorothy Hall in Home Improvement News Add commentsAprons, potholders, dish towels, and appliance covers can be great canvases to display your creativity on. Aprons can plain and simple, modern or retro. An apron in a solid color fabric will look great with hand or machine embroidery, fabric painting, or appliqué. Make sure you chose a fabric paint that is safe around heat. Print fabric aprons can also be embellished with embroidery or appliqué, as well as trims such ric rac and lace. Bias tape binding can add a simple decorative touch and many apron patterns use it.
You can also embellish pot holders with hand or machine embroidery. Do not use fabric paint on potholders, since they are always subject to heat. Appliance covers also look great with embroidery. Placemats, tablecloths, and table runners can be quilted or embroidered. Fabric paint is usually not advisable for these items since they will generally be subject to heat, however if you are making a tablecloth for a decorative table used as an end table or nightstand, fabric painting can be a good choice.
