Were you able to spot all the trends in our first “Can U spot the trends?” post on March 26th?  If not, let’s try again with this version.  Trend spotting really forces you to take a look at the design details in a room and makes it possible for you to better determine your own likes and dislikes while offering suggestions on how to incorporate trends into your own decor.  So put your reading glasses on and see how you do with this one:

In this room designed by Meg Braff interiors orange is used in both the accessories and rug. The x bench is also a popular trend right now as is the gourd shaped lamp.

 

Orange in all it’s glorious shades has been a popular decorating color for a couple of years now.  The color choices range from a warm and inviting rusty orange to an eye popping orange as seen in this photo. 

The x bench is showing up at the foot of beds, used as a vanity stool or as an accent piece in the living or family room.  We also did a post on x benches that can be found here.  The graphic print used on this x bench is also a popular trend and is appearing on wallcoverings, bedding, rugs, fabric and accessories.

The simple shape of the gourd lamp has really caught the eye of designers the past couple of seasons.  Adding a vibrant color to the lamp such as orange (shown here), turquoise, lemon yellow or citrine green will really brighten a space (yes, pun intended).

The black base of this gourd lamp from Lamps Plus adds a sophisticated touch to any room.
