For those who live in the desert Southwest, a bit of spring like weather, with highs pushing the 70′s in the last week, have left some of us itching to plant. Alas, there is still a little more winter ahead, but in rural towns, where WalMart is the hub of activity, the garden section is stocked up and ready to go. Amazon provides a great source for finding interesting seeds. I’ve found many of my favorites there, and a number of planting products as well. If you’re thinking about starting your own tomatoes and peppers, it’s time to start assembling your supplies, and seeds as well. If you are thinking in terms of peppers, we had a wonderful yellow gypsy pepper grow in our garden last year, with a tremendous, sweet flavor. The kids adored the flavor, and I couldn’t keep any for meal prep! As for a tomato recommendation, a friend gave us a started black cherry tomato plant, and the flavor was intensely sweet and delicious. I couldn’t get many to full ripe state, because the kids would pick them as soon as they started to ripen. Check the seeds and plants out at Amazon. As for growing and starting kits, there is a range of items and systems available. This would make a great household garden project, and can double as a science fair projects, as well. Get into the growing groove, by doing your research, and planning ahead!
